Tutorial Tuesday {Center Piece}

I know it's isn't Tuesday but a few things got crazy yesterday so I am posting this great Tutorial today. I’m really not sure why I am even posting this it kinda seems silly with how simple this really is to make or rather upgrade. I really love when I can add the “natural” element to a party, I love it even more when I can snaz it up with $1 worth of ribbon. You really can’t beat that a galvanized metal bucket + ribbon equals a grand total of $3 yup that’s right and throw in some cheap flowers or even some sand and a candle and you have a centerpiece that is sure to stand out. What I love even more about this project you can literly use any size and/or color ribbon to upgrade the bucket. Okay enough with the chit chat on to what you really came here for the tutorial.

Supply list:

·         Bucket/pail or B/P (I used a galvanized metal bucket from target)

·         Ribbon any kind ( I used 1 inch ribbon that matched my color scheme)

·         Hot Glue gun

First step: Pick out the color ribbon you want and set up a pattern of your choice I just did a simple strip pattern but you can easily do a thick/thin pattern or a layered look. 

Second step: Measure your B/P if your bucket is anything like mine it gets smaller at the bottom so make sure you have a set pattern and you measured and cut everything right(measure twice, cut once). I made sure the ribbon was about a quarter of an inch longer then the length originally measured it just looks better.

Third step: Glue the ribbon on too your B/P make sure you start and stop the each layer of ribbon at the same point or it will basically look stupid. With my bucket I put a small dot of glue at the start point then every inch or so just make sure the ribbon didn’t slide and again at the end.

Fourth and final step: Guess what your done yup you’re done. It is really that simple and so many options when it comes to pattern, color, and size.

Epic fails: I had a few problems when it came to this project. Yeah I know how the hell did I have a problem making something so simple? Well I did okay sorryyyy. :) My first problem was when I cute all the ribbon the same length not realizing that there was such a big difference in sizing when it came to the circumference of the bucket. Second fail was using tape to hold the ribbon to the bucket usually duct tape works for everything but nope didn’t work here. Third glue dots even though they work for like everything it didn’t work in this case. The reason I tried the tape and glue dots was so I could remove the ribbon to match other color schemes but as I said they didn’t work. Thankfully though the ribbon came right of the bucket I did have to pick at the glue stuck on the bucket but hey it was well worth it.

 Helpful tips: You can use the glue dots in replace of the hot glue EXCEPT at the start and stop points on the bucket. Just make sure to push really, really, really hard on them. The reason I say this is because the glue dots simplify the removal process sadly they do not stick well enough to secure the ribbon so using the little dot of hot glue does that.Painters tape is your friend if you happen to be like me and can never make up your mind then you will want to have painters tape on hand. You use the painters tape to TEMPORARILY stick the ribbon on the B/P so you can see the ribbon the way it will look in the end.
